joy of sound - L’art du GONG

“The art of playing a gong is...

to give expression to the present moment through sound.”

The Sound and Poetry of the Moment

Each of my gong sound journeys and gong sound baths emerges from an open creative process, unfolding in the present moment.

I connect with the potential and poetry of the moment — with the atmosphere, the people, or nature — and allow a fleeting symphony of perception and sound to arise from it.

In this way, the surroundings become a co-creator in the emergence of a fleeting work — an œuvre éphémère.  This is why every gong session, sound bath, or gong meditation is an interactive experience whose effect can still be felt beyond the moment itself.

An essential aspect of a gong bath is the contemplative and deeply relaxing  effect of the gong sounds. Through this, perception can be relieved from external influences and become more sensitive to the subtle communication between mind and soul.

Since I, as the gong player, am also not separate from the effect of the gong sounds, my presence moves between artistic creation and immediate experience. Many sound combinations and playing techniques are reflections of my perception and of directly experiencing sound in the present moment.

This is precisely what distinguishes a gong session from a classical musical performance: sound is not only heard, but directly experienced.

Between Gong Sound Journey & Moment-Based Art

My creative world includes gong baths, soundjourneys, concerts, and experimental soundscapes, which I also release in audio and video formats.

Gong Baths & Sound Journeys

I regularly offer gong bath and sound journeys — also known as gong sound baths or sound journeys.

A gong bath can be understood as a form of passive meditation, in which the sounds of the gong become a kind of acoustic guide for the participants.

The sounds support each person’s intention for taking part — for example relaxation, inner calm, or regeneration — and guide the participants through their individual process.

Audio & Video Releases and Soundscapes

Many of these creative impulses later find their way into my audio and video releases.

Alongside contemplative gong sound journeys, I also create experimental soundscapes in which I explore the possibilities of the gong in connection with natural sounds, voice, or other instruments.

The videos are not merely an accompaniment, but a visual interpretation of the story told by the sound.

Concerts & Co-Creation

I value working with other artists, musicians, and people from the local and international gong communities.

Through regular rehearsals, shared concerts, and spontaneous encounters, co-creations continue to emerge, bringing together different playing styles and artistic perspectives to give rise to new artistic impulses.

“I believe that the things we love
only have the chance to unfold their full potential
and develop lasting value
when we share them with the world.”

What I Share With You

Regular Gong Baths

I offer regular gong baths at various locations on La Réunion —  also experienced as sound journeys.

They are a form of sound meditation in which the participants’ intention and personal story subtly help shape the sound of the gong.

This is why no two gong sessions are the same. Even when attending regularly, the experience will never be exactly the same; rather, it can deepen over time.

Workshops, Concerts & Projects

These include formats and events in which I bring my art of gong playing into different contexts — from practical workshops and presentations to live concerts and co-creations with people who share my passion for sound.

One of these formats is the Nuit du Gong — Night of the Gongs — also known as a Gong Puja

Gong Trainings

These gong trainings are for people who would like to discover the meditative sound potential of gong sound, or who wish to use the gong as a medium for their artistic expression.

My gong trainings are also suitable for people working in social, therapeutic, or educational fields who would like to integrate the deeply relaxing effect of gong sound into their professional context.

Individual training and small-group trainings are available.

Custom Requests

Individual gong sessions and sound performances can be planned and booked for different occasions.

Whether as a private gong session with friends or family, for associations, as part of a team day, a training course, or a public event — the format can be adapted to the wishes and circumstances of each situation.

Often, there is already an idea or a wish, even if the concrete form is not yet clear.

Contact me and share your idea with me. Many projects begin with a simple conversation, from which suitable formats gradually emerge.
